Beyond the Closet Door
For a long time
the closet felt enough.
Corners are quiet.
Corners keep secrets.
And secrets are comfortable.
But lately
a strange thought
keeps returning.
Humans leave every morning.
Without much hesitation.
They open the door
and simply… go.
Outside the room
there must be more corners.
More shadows.
More things
that humans
haven’t named yet.
This morning
the little human rushed again.
Half-awake.
Hair confused.
One sock blue.
The other… not quite.
He didn’t seem worried.
He just left.
And suddenly I wondered -
how far can a creature go
with mismatched socks?
Perhaps farther
than one that never leaves the closet.
The door stayed open
a little longer today.
Light reached deeper
than usual.
For the first time
I considered something unusual.
Maybe corners
are not only places to hide.
Maybe they are also
places to begin.
I did not move.
Not yet.
But the thought remained.
And thoughts
are often the first step
beyond the closet door.
