Humans and Warnings

Humans seem unusually interested in warnings.

Especially the clear ones.

Do Not Touch.

Restricted Area.

Keep Out.

Do Not Open.

I assumed these signs existed to prevent problems.

Humans appeared to interpret them differently.

A warning often seems to increase interest.

Which felt strange.

Humans frequently approach dangerous things simply because they seem interesting.

A hot pan.

An unfamiliar mushroom.

A suspicious link.

A creature with four eyes and an unusual smile.

Often, they already know they should not.

Yet they move closer anyway.

Just to see.

Curiosity appears to outrank caution.

At least sometimes.

Strange.

That a species capable of predicting storms

can still be distracted

by curiosity.
