Return From A Quiet Adventure

I know.

It has been quiet here.

Too quiet.

For a few days, the closet door stayed closed and the pages of this notebook remained still.

Some of you might have wondered where I went.

The truth is simple.

I stepped outside.

Further than usual.

At first, I only meant to look around.

Just a small adventure among familiar things.

But the world beyond the closet is… larger than it appears from inside.

Light moves differently out there.

Shadows travel slowly across walls.

Objects wait patiently, as if they have been keeping their own little secrets.

I saw many things.

A long hallway that seemed to stretch further every time I blinked.

A window where the light moved slowly, like it was thinking before entering the room.

A clock that ticked with far too much confidence about the future.

And people.

Humans move quickly.

But they rarely notice the quiet places between their steps.

Those places are where the interesting things hide.

When I finally returned, I did not write immediately.

I needed time.

Time to sit again in the familiar dark,

to listen to the quiet,

and to understand what I had seen.

Adventures are curious things.

They do not end when you return home.

Sometimes they stay in your head,

quietly rearranging the way the world looks.

So if the closet was silent…

it is because I was thinking.

And resting.

And wondering what might be waiting

behind the next slightly open door.

For now, I am back.

Watching.

Learning.

And writing again.

Carefully.

Because the world outside the closet

is full of things

that might not be just what they seem.
