The Creature Tried To Understand Humans

I watched humans for a long time.

 

Especially one phrase:

“I’m fine.”

It appeared very often.

After difficult days.

After silence.

Even when the eyes looked more tired than the human themselves.

 

At first, I thought
it was simply a form of politeness.

Later, it became less clear.

It seems that humans sometimes hide their condition even from themselves.

 

As if admitting exhaustion was something dangerous.

Or shameful.

I never fully understood it.

 

It felt strange
that humans so often ask to be noticed,
while hiding the very signs
that they are struggling.
